The vigil was held at Pine Trails Park; MLB.com noted Rizzo conducts an annual charity walkathon there.

Rizzo was in Arizona preparing to report to spring training when he heard the news of the shooting. A day later, he was back in Parkland.

“I’m only who I am because of this community, and I just want you to know how proud I am to be part of this community,” he said. “I want you to know you’re not alone in your grief. We’re all grieving with you. The entire country is grieving with you.”
