Pelicans forward Anthony Davis will not play in Thursday’s game against the Suns after spraining his left ankle at the team’s shootaround earlier in the day.

New Orleans coach Monty Williams told reporters Thursday afternoon Davis would be a game-time decision and that he injured his ankle “during drills.”

Davis’ sprained ankle is the latest in a growing list of injuries to the 22-year-old star forward this season. He missed several games — including the All-Star Game — with a right shoulder contusion suffered during a scary fall in early February. He re-aggrevated the injury a few weeks later.

Despite his injuries, Davis is still averaging 24.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks this season. Earlier this week, he came close to recording a historic quadruple-double against the Nuggets.

The Pelicans (37-30) are currently a half-game behind the Thunder for the Western Conference’s eighth and final seed in the upcoming playoffs.
