Anthem gives players many different ways to collect ember, from dismantling gear, harvesting materials during free play, and even by completing Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Challenges. However, in order to be able to craft the better weapons and gear in the game such as masterwork weapons, players will need to find higher rarity ember. Here are all of the different methods for finding Masterwork Ember.
Player Level and World Difficulty
Before getting started, players will need to be closer to the maximum level cap of 30 for more of the methods below. Just like gear that drops in the world, higher tier ember has a better chance of dropping for not only higher level players, but also when the world/mission difficulty is higher as well.
In order to have a better chance of finding Masterwork Embers from world chests or resource nodes scattered around the map, players should increase the difficulty as high as they can. Accessing the Grandmaster levels of difficulty start giving players harvesting bonuses starting at 300% which ensures at least a few masterwork level drops during a run. This method is a little more random thanks to the RNG element of Anthem, but it hasn’t stopped players from finding optimal and promising farming routes while out on Freeplay.
Missions and Enemies
As well as higher world difficulties, there are events and enemies players can take on to increase the chances of earning masterwork embers. Elder Ash Titans are a great source of materials, though they’re encountered during occasional world events in Freeplay and are not consistent enough to farm.
Strongholds and legendary contracts can be taken at higher levels of difficulty to increase the rate of finding Masterwork Embers as well as some of the best gear in the game. Strongholds are unique and difficult missions in Anthem that promote coordination and teamwork in order to overcome. The Tyrant Mine, the stronghold featured during the demo weekends, unlocks at player level 7, while The Heart of Rage and Temple of Scar unlock after one of the final missions in the game is completed.
On the other hand, Legendary Contracts are short, repeatable missions that can be undertaken once the player reaches level 30 and has finished all quest lines and contracts for the three factions in the game: Arcanists, Sentinels, and Freelancers. Taking on these missions does not guarantee a Masterwork Drop, but it provides a much better chance than most other activities.
The Shops at Fort Tarsis
Prospero, the vanity merchant at Fort Tarsis, offers players a very easy way to get access to Masterwork Embers. Before Prospero opens his vanity shop, players first need to complete a quest for him called Lighting a Fire. This is an early mission within Anthem that can be completed fairly quickly by finding three embers during free play. Once they’re turned in, his shop opens for business and any level player can start purchasing ember.
Naturally, his prices increased based on the ember rarity level.
Uncommon Ember - 500 Rare Ember - 1000 Epic Ember - 2000 Masterwork Ember - 5000
Currently, those are the best ways to score Masterwork level embers, though as a live service game, it’s highly likely that BioWare will be adding even more possibilities into the game through new content and missions. Already, the developer has provided a 90-day roadmap alongside its story-based downloadable content schedule. Along with continued bug fixes, players should have plenty to look forward to over the next couple of months.
Anthem is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
