To beat Anthem’s main story missions, fans can expect roughly 12 hours of content, according to game time aggregate website How Long to Beat. The site also claims that it will take a little over 22 hours to beat the main story and the side content, whereas those looking to fully complete Anthem are looking at over 40 hours of playtime.

It’s also worth pointing out that Anthem is a live-service style of game, meaning that the base content is just the beginning. BioWare has already released a roadmap for its first 90 days, which will see the addition of replayable story missions, new cosmetic items, and plenty of freeplay events.

We’ve already seen how freeplay events will work in Anthem in the form of the There Be Giants event. If players complete the event, they unlock the Foundation vinyl, which is only available while the event is live. If players missed out on completing There Be Giants in time, they will have another chance in March.

BioWare has stated that it hopes for Anthem to be a 10 year game. Whether or not Anthem can be sustained over such a long period of time is going to be dependent on whether or not BioWare can maintain interest in the game, which seems like an uphill battle at this stage.

While Anthem certainly has its dedicated fans, the low review scores and some post-launch missteps seem to have put a damper on the game’s sales. BioWare’s challenge will be to improve Anthem in the coming months with regular content updates that make it an experience more in line with what fans expected, while also being sure to draw in new players. BioWare is a studio full of talented people, though, so it may very well save Anthem just yet.

Anthem is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
