Specifically, some players are reporting that they are occasionally encountering invisible bosses during their time with Anthem. While these reports suggest that this bug is not specific to any one boss in particular, there is now video evidence that it can occur with the Swarm Tyrant in the Tyrant Mine stronghold.
This evidence comes from Reddit user Zenro45, who has recently shared footage of an encounter with an invisible Swarm Tyrant. Somewhat amazingly, Zenro45 and crew are able to defeat the unseen enemy, which the player attributes to coordination with a friend. For those that are interested, slaying the imperceptible foe netted two of Anthem’s masterwork weapons and a number of epics.
Responses to Zenro45’s post come from a players lamenting the game’s flaws as well as those that indicate that they have come across this sort of bug in the past. There are also posters that jokingly suggest that this glitch is the product of a leak of Grandmaster 4 — a nonexistent difficult setting that would, of course, be more challenging than Anthem’s Grandmaster 2 and 3 options.
While indeed some players are able to maintain a certain amount of levity in the face of these sorts of issues, there are undoubtedly others that have simply had enough of the game’s bugs and glitches. Perhaps a more formal Anthem beta would have allowed these kinks to be ironed out before release, but there is now the question of BioWare’s ability to maintain a dwindling playerbase that is continually finding new defects.
As more developers enter the realm of games as service, a pattern of unfinished titles find their way to release is certainly solidifying. This invisibility glitch may not be the worst bug that has plagued Anthem since its launch, but it does suggest that there is still important work to be done on the title.
Anthem is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
