According to a USA Today report, Trammel met with Power for half an hour in his motorhome on Sunday. The report says that if accelerometer data indicates the hit Power took in the crash was enough, he will not be able to race in the Sept. 18 season finale at Sonoma Raceway. Power, the 2014 champion who has 27 career wins, is in contention to win another IndyCar championship.

Trammel nor Power commented for the report, which states that the next update is expected on Tuesday.
Power missed the season’s opening race with dizziness related to an inner ear issue which, according to the report, was misdiagnosed as a concussion.

Power won four of the last seven races to narrow the gap on leader Simon Pagenaud. In Sunday’s race, he collided with Charlie Kimball on Lap 39 and Power hit the wall.
Power is 43 points behind Pagenaud in the series standings.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced earlier this week that he will be sidelined for the remainder of this NASCAR Sprint Cup season as he continues to battle concussion-like symptoms. He outlined his recovery in a news conference at Darlington Raceway on Sunday.
